Most Anticipated Releases Jan-Feb 2019 Part – 2

And here’s part 2 of my Most Anticipated Releases for the first two months of 2019! In case you missed Part 1, you can find it here. I hope you’ll find some new books to check out and read, maybe find some new favorite books/authors along the way!

Enchantée by Gita Trelease

• Release Date: 5th February
• Genres: Young Adult, Historical Fiction, Fantasy

Set in 1789 in France, a young orphan uses petty magic to provide for her siblings. When things get worse, she transforms herself into the ‘Baroness de la Fontaine’ using forbidden dark magic and arrives at the glittering court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette to gamble at cards and have enough to keep her sister safe. When she returns to Paris, she meets a handsome young balloonist and dares to hope for love and liberty. But magic has its cost and when the game she’s playing turns deadly and the revolution erupts, she must choose which side she’s on before Paris burns…

This sounds like it will be a magical and exciting read. I’m all for a historical fantasy fiction set in Paris during the French Revolution!

Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James

• Release Date: 5th February
• Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Inspired by African Myth and History

This trilogy is being called the African Game of Thrones and while I haven’t read the GoT books and couldn’t watch past the “Red Wedding” episode of the show (Shocking! I know 😉), I’m still very much looking forward to the Dark Star trilogy!

A mercenary is hired to find a mysterious child who went missing three years ago. He becomes part of a group that comes together to search for the boy including a shapeshifter. They move from one ancient city to another following the scent and come across creatures who are intent on destroying them. So who is this kid really? And why don’t people want him to be found?

The Black Coats by Colleen Oakes

• Release Date: 12th February
• Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary

A young girl receives an invitation to join a secret group of avengers, the Black Coats, who have been exacting vengeance on men who hurt girls and women for years. In time, though, the Balancings (acts of revenge guaranteed to teach a lesson) begin escalating in brutality and the Black Coats may not be all they seem to be. So just how far will you go for justice?

This sounds like it’ll be a powerful, important story and I’m here for it!

Spectacle by Jodie Lynn Zdrok

• Release Date: 12th February
• Genres: Young Adult, Historical Fantasy, Mystery

A YA murder mystery in which a young reporter must use her supernatural visions to help track down a killer targeting the young women of Paris.

I love reading stories set in Paris, especially historical fiction fantasy ones and this one is set in 1887! And, it’s a mystery! We don’t get too many of those and I want it now. 😍

The Art of Losing by Lizzy Mason

• Release Date: 19th February
• Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary

One terrible night, seventeen-year-old Harley’s life changes as she catches her boyfriend cheating on her with her sister. Later that night, her sister ends up in a coma and Harley is left with guilt, grief, pain and the realization that her ex-boyfriend has a drinking problem. The story follows Harley as she comes to terms with the situation and reconnects with a childhood friend who shows her the path forward.

It’s not my usual kind of read but I’ve heard really good things about it and I’m eagerly waiting for its release!

Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller

• Release Date: 26th February
• Genres: Young Adult, High Fantasy, Romance

I can’t explain this any better than the short blurb on Goodreads –
As her father’s chosen heir, eighteen-year-old Rasmira has trained her whole life to become a warrior and lead her village. But when her coming-of-age trial is sabotaged and she fails the test, her father banishes her to the monster-filled wilderness with an impossible quest: to win back her honor, she must kill the oppressive god who claims tribute from the villages each year or die trying.

How do you kill a god? Read to find out! I haven’t read any other books by this author yet but this one sounds like a wild ride! 😉

We Set The Dark On Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia

I am just counting the days till this book releases, I mean, that cover alone! But the premise sounds so good too.

The Beauty of the Moment by Tanaz Bhathena

Susan is the new girl – she’s sharp, driven, works hard to meet her parents’ expectations and secretly dreams of being artist. Sparks fly when they meet at a fundraiser for Syrian refugees.

Sounds like the perfect beach/holiday read!

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I tried to keep this one as mysterious as I could, I really don’t want to know too much about it before I start reading it. 😜

The Huntress by Kate Quinn

• Release Date: 26th February
  
• Genres: Adult, Historical fiction

When the Nazis attack the Soviet Union, Nina risks everything to join an all-female night bomber regiment wreaking havoc on the invading Germans. Stranded behind enemy lines, she becomes the prey of a lethal Nazi murderess called the Huntress. Ian, a battle-haunted English journalist has become a Nazi hunter and he needs Nina’s help to hunt the Huntress.

There’s more but this much was enough to get me to add this book to my list, looking forward to this post WWII story that’s sure to be engrossing and heart-wrenching!

Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte

To say I’m intrigued is an understatement!
