Longest Books I’ve Ever Read

Long books can be quite intimidating. But over time, I’ve braved a few chunky books and finished them by really, really wanting to.

Here’s the thing: Short books are good – if they’re standalones and usually not very heavy reads, you get through them pretty quickly; if they’re part of a series, there’ll be more installments coming out. But the other side of that coin is that sometimes if a standalone is really good and I like the world and the characters, I really want more time with them in that world. And waiting for the next book in a series is torture!

Hence, long books. They’re like a really filling meal. So, here is a list of some of the longest books I’ve ever read.

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas

  • Throne of Glass #7
  • Format: Paperback/Audiobook
  • Page Count: 980 pages
  • Year read: 2018
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An amazing end to a fantastic series, one I will reread for years to come! One of my favorite series ever by one of my favorite authors ever.

Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon

  • Outlander #2
  • Format: Paperback/Audiobook
  • Page Count: 966 pages
  • Year read: 2018
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

A bit slow and not as exciting as the first book in the series but still enjoyable, especially wandering the streets of Paris and visiting the Palace of Versailles. I’m reading the third book right now and seriously, each book in this series is just huge! 😉

Winter by Marissa Meyer

  • Lunar Chronicles #4
  • Format: Paperback
  • Page Count: 824 pages
  • Year read: 2016
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This series got me back into YA, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and made me fall in love with fairytale retellings. One of my favorite series ever and I might be rereading it this year!

Blood Memory by Greg Iles

  • Standalone
  • Format: Paperback
  • Page Count: 800 pages
  • Year read: 2015
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

This was recommended to me by someone and while it was engaging and gripping for the most part, I remember very vaguely what it was about. Also, it was longer than it needed to be.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling

  • Harry Potter #5
  • Format: Hardcover
  • Page Count: 776 pages
  • Year read: 2003
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Probably my favorite Harry Potter book. What can say about this series that hasn’t already been said? Nothing. I love this series, a huge part of my childhood that I’m very thankful for. All kids need to read it!

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

  • Twilight #4
  • Format: Paperback
  • Page Count: 754 pages
  • Year read: 2010
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Twilight (just the first one) will always be a favorite guilty pleasure read/movie. It was all downhill from there for me.

Paradise by Judith McNaught

  • Second Opportunities #1
  • Format: Mass Market Paperback
  • Page Count: 709 pages
  • Year read: 2015
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was another recommendation and one of the few books from this author that I’ve read. I really enjoyed it though it was quite long and different from my usual reads.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas

  • A Court of Thorns And Roses #3
  • Format: Paperback/Audiobook
  • Page Count: 699
  • Year read: 2018
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ah, another exciting series by one of my favorite authors! I flew through ACOMAF and ACOWAR, switching between the paperback and the audiobook, and absolutely loved the story!

Gemina by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff

  • Illuminae Files #2
  • Format: Paperback
  • Page Count: 659
  • Year read: 2018
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This one took me a while to read and wasn’t as awesome as the first one in the trilogy but I still really liked it. This is one very unique and crazy series set in space, told in a very creative way.

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

  • All Souls Trilogy #1
  • Format: Paperback/Audiobook
  • Page Count: 579 pages
  • Year read: 2018
  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.25

Oh, how I loved this book and the show! Again, I wish it had been a bit shorter but it was a very engaging story and I’m excited to pick up the next book in the trilogy soon!

These are some of the longest books I’ve ever read (I included only one per series to cover more books/authors) and there are still many more chunky and intimidating books on my TBR, which I’ll share in a later post. 🙂
