Currently Reading Tag

Hello there, hope you’re having a good day! I’m back with another tag post today. I saw this one on SepiaReads and it looked like fun! So let’s just get into the questions!

1. How Many Books Do You Usually Read At Once?

2-4 probably. Sometimes, if a book is too heavy or too long or too complex, I need some lighter, shorter, easier and quicker reads so I feel like I’m making some progress with my reading goal and don’t fall into a slump.

2.How Do You Decide When To Switch Between Multiple Reads?

I usually just pick up whatever’s grabbing me at that moment or if I need to finish one by a certain date – there’s no real strategy to it. 🙂

3. Do You Ever Switch Bookmarks Partway Through A Book?

No, not really. I choose a bookmark before I start reading a book, or in some cases after I’ve read a few pages and I’m liking it and will be continuing it right away, and then use that bookmark throughout.

4. Where Do You Keep The Book(s) You’re Currently Reading?

On my make-shift bedside table which is actually a couple of very sturdy cushions on top of a not so sturdy little bean bag (which is also filled up with a couple of cushions – I didn’t have any beans, okay? I made it work…) 🤷‍♀️ I actually keep the whole month’s TBR and any books I have read but haven’t reviewed yet as well as my bullet journal and review journal there right next to my bed for easy access. Also, to remind me to read more.

5. What Time Of Day Do You Read The Most?

Late evening, night time mostly. Sometimes maybe in the afternoon if I can make time or all day if the book just really calls to me.

6. How Long Do You Typically Read In One Session?

Depends how far into a book I am and how much time I have. If it’s during the day and I’m just starting a book, maybe a few pages/chapters. I usually become very engrossed by the middle and then end up reading the last 100-150 pages at least all in one sitting – usually at night.

7. Do You Read Hardbacks With The Dust Jacket Off?

Maybe. I don’t have a lot of hardbacks so I’ve never really thought about it, but I suppose I might have removed the dust jacket to make it easier to hold and read.

8. What Position Do You Mainly Use To Read?

Just leaning back in bed, or lying down if I’m too tired to sit up but can’t stop reading. 🤷‍♀️

9. Do You Take Your Current Read With You Everywhere You Go?

Yep, pretty much. At least one of them.

10. How Often Do You Update Your Goodreads Reading Progress?

I would say after the last reading session for that day – I make time to read a few pages during the day but don’t update after every 15-minute session. Maybe if I’ve made a good chunk of progress, then I’ll update at the end of the day.

Tagging the following lovely bloggers to do this tag too if they like!

How about you? What are you reading these days? How many books do you read at a time? Talk to me in the comments below.

  1. I like this activity. I usually just read one book at a time, but I know the next book or two that I will be reading in advance most times.
I keep my currently read books with me and take them to work and back home. I mean, what is a lunchbreak for if not reading?

  2. I can never to stick to only reading one thing at a time, either, haha. At the moment my main book is Broken Angels by Richard Morgan, for my cyberpunk dissertation. I also need to start Queen of Air and Darkness but the size of the book is putting me off *a lot*

  3. I like your answers but I’m not sure how you keep track with so many books on the go at once! I’ve finally come back to Outlander after reading it on the side and forgetting about it. I’m now having to read it as my only book to make sure I actually remember to read it!

  4. That is a fun one! I usually have 3 going at once. My main book, an audio book for my endless hours on public transporation, and one book I am reading with my kids at night.

  5. I personally feel a bean bag filled with pillows is probably way comfier! Also, hey you use what you can for those tbr piles! I feel like I’m the same as you, there’s no real strategy but even though I’ll start multiple books at once I’ll focus on ones with a read by date or whatever catches me the most and put the others aside. Loved your answers, yay for nighttime readers!
