WWW Wednesday – 6th Feb 2019

I don’t feel like I’ve been reading too much lately. But it’s been 2 weeks since my last reading update, so here goes.

WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on A World of Words

The 3 Ws to be answered for this meme:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m currently in the middle of 3 books:

  • Elantris by Brandon Sanderson: Page 137 of 590
The long chapters and weird but similar names are slowing me down. 🙈
  • The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner: Page 60 of 279
Honestly, I should have finished this book by day 3 of this month, I just haven’t been reading much. And it’s somewhat slow right now, a lot of information and world-building going on. 🤷‍♀️
  • Voyager by Diana Gabaldon: Page 266 of 870
This is the only one I seem to be making some progress in, thank God for the audiobook! I listen to a chapter or two of this before falling asleep at night. The thing I had been desperately been waiting to happen just happened and I’m so happy! It’s going well! 😍

I’ve only finished one book since my last reading update:

  • Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
Let’s just say it wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t what I was expecting it to be. Find my complete review here.
    My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

I am definitely hoping to finish at least one of my current reads, if not two, and when I do, I will most likely pick up one of these:

  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
  • The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

What about you? What are you reading these days? Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned in this post? And which of my next reads should I pick up first? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I listened to Elantris and loved it, I remember sitting in my car with my bf and our mouths dropping open at the twists in the story. I hope you get more into it!

  2. Heh, yeah, Elantris is not one of Sanderson’s best. And while I really liked The Thief, the sequels were far better, so don’t get discouraged!
I’m currently reading three books as well – Touch by Claire North, Hwarhath Stories by Eleanor Arnason, and Ninefox Gambit by Yoon Ha Lee.

    • Well, that’s okay, Elantris was his first book, right? I’m okay if it’s not the best because that means he did improve a lot later on. ☺️ I’m trying to finish The Thief quickly so I’ll know if I like it enough to buy the rest of the series or not, so that’s good to know, thanks!
And I’ve heard a lot about Claire North’s books, how are you liking Touch so far?

      • He did improve, yup – Way of Kings was way, way better. He’s still not one of my favourite writers, but I’ll definitely continue with Stormlight.

I’m only like 13% into Touch and still unsure – I’m not too fond of modern settings and there’s a lot of jumping around (from body to body, from town to town, from present to past) but it’s quite well-written. So depends on what you like, I’d say.

    • Whaaaaaat!!! I’m so jealous but so excited for you!! 😍 I want a physical copy too but the book hasn’t released yet and the imported copies have prices through the roof. 🙈
Anyway, thank you so much, I was quite nervous about reviewing Dumplin’ as a lot of people really seemed to love it and I didn’t. 🤷
I’ll check out your post right away. 🙂

  3. Great post!

I haven’t read the Outlander series, but I love the tv show! Just started watching the latest season recently. Dumplin’ is definitely a book I hope to read this year and then watch the Netflix film. Also hope to start reading the Six of Crows series this year before the Netflix adaptation comes out.

    Currently reading Love, Simon.
